Voice refers to the quality or sound of our voice. It is what makes verbal communication possible. Any impairment to your voice can impact how well you are able to effectively communicate with others.

Vocal disorders may present as:
-
soft or weak voice
-
changes to pitch
-
sounding hoarse or breathy
-
reduced loudness
-
fading at the end of longer phrases/sentences

Individuals may experience voice changes as a result of neurological conditions, vocal nodules, polyps, cysts, vocal cord paralysis, or surgery. Treatment is patient-specific and may require referral to an otolaryngologist (ENT) to assess vocal fold pathologies.
